Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu insists he wants to stay at Goodison Park for “a lot of years” amid speculation linking him with a move back to Barcelona.
The La Liga and European Champions have a £9m buy-back clause on the 21-year-old, who joined Everton permanently over the summer and are looking to bolster their wide areas when their transfer embargo is lifted in January.
However, Deulofeu has handed Roberto Martinez a lift after insisting he wants to remain with the Toffees for the foreseeable future.
“I am so happy to be staying here a long time,” said the Spain Under-21 international at the Everton Optimum event on Tuesday night.
“When I stayed here the first time, I love Everton and now I’ve come back.
“I hope to stay here for a lot of years.”
Deulofeu has been in sparkling form since returning to Everton and is currently the most creative player aged 21 and under across Europe’s top five leagues having registered more assists than any other player (5), furthering his statistically calculated of strength 'key passes'.
