Celtic have announced Brendan Rodgers has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal keeping him at Park Head until 2021.
Rodgers made the surprise decision to become Celtic manager last summer after being sacked as Liverpool boss in October 2015 but the 44-year-old has enjoyed a superb campaign in Scotland.
Celtic have already won the Premiership title and League Cup in his first season in charge and they could complete the treble with a Scottish Cup semi-final to come later this month.
“Brendan has made a huge impact at Celtic already,” chief executive Peter Lawwell told the club’s official website. “He’s an outstanding manager and we believe he is one of the best coaches in Europe, if not world football, and we’re delighted that he has committed his future to Celtic.”
Rodgers only signed a 12-month rolling contract when he took charge of Celtic in May 2013 and this latest news will come as a huge boost to the Scottish giants, as some teams in England would certainly have been interested in bringing Rodgers back down south.
Celtic are a stunning 23 points clear of Aberdeen in the Premiership and are one of just three top-flight clubs unbeaten in Europe this season.
