Schalke will not allow defender Joel Matip to leave the club in January, according to Kicker.
Matip, 24, will be allowed to leave the club on a free at the end of the season when his contract expires and he is reportedly interested in a move to the Premier League.
However, Schalke would rather keep the defender until the end of the season rather than lose Matip for a small fee, even though he has no interested in signing a new deal.
The Cameroon international is the highest rated player at Schalke, where he has made at least 16 more interceptions than any other teammate (55).
