Paris Saint-Germain bid for Chelsea forward

Paris Saint-Germain have made a shock deadline day bid for Chelsea winger Willian in a bid to add depth to their offensive options, claims The Daily Mail.

With Neymar sidelined until the end of March and out of both Champions League last-16 ties against Manchester United, PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel wants to sign cover on deadline day.

PSG are understood to have made a $10m bid for DC United star Luciano Acosta but it has also emerged they have approached Chelsea about Willian.

Willian has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the last 18 months but quashed any transfer speculation earlier this month.

Chelsea are in crisis at the moment after Wednesday’s 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth and now they have been rocked by PSG’s last-ditch attempt to prise Willian away from the club.

Willian has only nailed down a regular starting berth when Eden Hazard has been used as a false nine but Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival has put an end to that.

Pedro is above the Brazilian in the pecking order to occupy the final spot in Sarri’s front three but Chelsea are expected to rebuff PSG’s advances.

The 30-year-old has played a direct hand in six goals in the Premier League this season (three goals, three assists).

Moreover, only Hazard (64) and Ryan Fraser (58) have registered more key passes than Willian (55) in the Premier League this term.
