Tottenham target considering Juventus future

Tottenham have received a boost in their pursuit of Paulo Dybala with the Argentine now considering his future at Juventus, claims Sky Sports.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have emerged as shock suitors for Juventus, as they eye a club-record £80m move for the 25-year-old this summer.

Dybala has been pushed to the fringes at Juventus since Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival 12 months ago.

Ronaldo is now the undisputed start of the Juventus team and Dybala has been forced to play second fiddle.

There is no problem between the two players but Dybala’s status at Juventus has unquestionably diminished over the last year.

That is not expected to change now that Maurizio Sarri is Juventus manager and the Argentina international is seriously considering his future.

Reports emerged on Thursday linking Tottenham with a £80m move for Dybala and the north London outfit are understood to be in talks with Juventus about a move.

Tottenham have already shattered their club-transfer record once this summer in signing Tanguy Ndombele and would have to do so again to land Dybala.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Dybala would consider Tottenham as an option should he leave the Serie A champions this summer.

Manchester United have previously been linked with a move for Dybala but appear to have cooled their interest to focus on other targets.

Dybala was part of the Argentina squad that finished third at this summer’s Copa America, though only started one game.

The Juventus forward did, however, score the winner in Argentina’s 2-1 win over Chile in their third-place play-off match.

Dybala endured a disappointing campaign last term and weighed in with just five goals in 30 appearances after struggling to nail down a role with Ronaldo in the team.

However, of the 63 players that attempted at least 75 crosses in Serie A last term, Dybala had the best cross success rate (32.9%) in Serie A last term.
