European giants sack manager

AC Milan have confirmed they have sacked Sinisa Mihajlovic less than 12 months into the job and replaced him with youth-team boss Cristian Brocchi until the end of the season.

Mihajlovic, 47, was only named Milan manager last summer but the seven-time European champions have failed to live up to expectations following a season of heavy investment.

There have been rumblings of unrest between Mihajlovic and Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi for several months and they have now taken the action to relive the former Sampdoria manager of his duties.

Brocchi, who had two spells as a player for Milan spanning over 11 years, has been promoted from within and means the Rossoneri have now had five managers in the last three campaigns.

Milan have failed to win any of their last five matches and look set to miss out on European football altogether next season, as they languish seven points off fifth place Fiorentina.

The Serbian finishes his reign with a respectable win ratio of 51.4%, having won 19 of his 37 matches in charge of Milan.
