Inter and Atletico Madrid lead unlikely chase for former England international

Inter and Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand in a £15m deal this summer, claims The Daily Mail.

Bertrand has consistently been one of Southampton’s best players over the last five years but his time at the club could end this summer.

The former England international has two years remaining on his existing Southampton contract and is valued at around £15m by Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

At 29, this summer will likely be Bertrand’s last opportunity to secure a move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe and both Atletico and Inter are weighing up a surprise summer move.

Atletico need a new left-back to replace Filipe Luis and Lucas Hernandez, while former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to take some Premier League talent with him to Inter.

Last season was the first Premier League campaign where Bertrand has failed to register an assist in five years at Southampton.
