West Ham risk losing star man over contract dispute

West Ham are running the risk of losing star man Michail Antonio after contract talks with the versatile midfielder stalled, reports The Daily Mail.

Antonio is currently injured and won’t return before the season finishes but has been locked in contract talks with the Hammers over a bumper new deal.

The 27-year-old’s current deal isn’t due to expire until 2020 but West Ham are keen to reward with star man with an improvement on his current £35,000-a-week wages.

West Ham were paying Dimitri Payet £120,000-a-week before he leave to re-join Marseille in January but they are unwilling to match Antonio’s six-figure demands.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Antonio throughout the season and they could be given encouragement in their pursuit of the Englishman after contract talks between Antonio and West Ham hit a snag.

In the last two Premier League campaigns Antonio has scored more goals than any other West Ham player (17), while only Olivier Giroud (12) has scored as many headed goals in that time in the Premier League.
