Everton sound out Arsenal forward

Everton have joined the race to sign Arsenal forward Theo Walcott in January, reports The Daily Mail.

Southampton and West Ham have already been heavily linked with a move for the 28-year-old and now Everton have enquired after his services.

Walcott has only managed three substitute appearances in the Premier League this season and will almost certainly have to leave Arsenal in January if he harbours any hopes of making the 2018 World Cup.

The England international last turned out for the Three Lions in November 2016 and needs regular first-team football in the Premier League in order to force his way back into the reckoning.

Boyhood club Southampton are interested in luring Walcott back to Saint Mary’s in January but Mauricio Pellegrino’s side now face stiff competition from Everton and West Ham.

Sam Allardyce is desperate to add pace to his offensive options at Everton and Walcott would certainly bring that at Goodison Park.

Illness has kept Walcott sidelined from Arsenal’s last six matches, while he has been limited to starts in just the League Cup and Europa League this season. In fact, he has played a direct hand in three goals in four starts in Europe thus far (two goals, one assist).
