Arsenal Star Could Be Headed to France

Jack Wilshere made his first appearance since breaking his leg last summer for Arsenal’s U21s on Friday night in a 3-1 win over Newcastle.

The 24 year-old played 65 minutes last night. While he has yet to feature for Arsenal’s first team, he has set his sights on a place in England’s Euro squad.

Wilshere was a pivotal player throughout Hodgson’s qualifying campaign where England won each of their 10 matches. Wilshere netted his first two international goals — both against Slovenia at Stadion Stožice.

The midfielder spoke to Sky last night and told them he’d been speaking to Hodgson about a potential return to the national side.

“I know what he wants from me and he knows what he gets from me as well, so that is why he has been really positive and wants me involved.”

Wilshere continued “That is why I played in the qualifiers and we won every game. I know what I need to do to get in there and hopefully I will.”

England’s first Euro 2016 match is June 11 at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille taking on Russia.
