Arsenal could use striker in swap deal for France international
According to Spanish outlet AS, Arsenal may be open to a deal that would see Alexandre Lacazette and Thomas Lemar trade places between London and Madrid.
The Gunners striker still has two years remaining before the end of his contract but turns 29 at the end of this month and it is understood that the club are willing to listen to offers for the Frenchman.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly at the front of the queue for the former Lyon forward's services and are contemplating an offer that would see former record signing Lemar in the opposite direction.
The winger is almost five years his compatriot's junior but has undoubtedly lost his way since a move to Spain and will be keen to reignite a stagnating career elsewhere, with Arsenal representing a potential route out of the Spanish capital.
Since arriving at Atleti ahead of the 2018/19 campaign on a big money deal from Monaco the 24-year-old has started just 30 LaLiga matches, and only eight so far this season.
He's yet to record a single goal or assist in the current campaign, while Lacazette has also been out of sorts in front of goal. In and out of the Arsenal side under both Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta this season, the 28-year-old has scored seven goals in 20 league appearances.
Lacazette has also ultimately failed to live up to expectations at the Emirates, failing to break the 15-goal barrier in a single Premier League season.
