Sunderland will demand £30m for Everton target

Sunderland have put a stunning £30m price tag on the head of star goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as they brace themselves for an opening offer from Everton, reports The Daily Mail.

Pickford is widely expected to leave Sunderland at the end of the season after the Black Cats were relegated from the Premier League with the likes of Everton and Arsenal interested in his services.

The England Under-21 international has been one of few bright spots for Sunderland this season and his reputation was only enhanced during their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in the week that saw Pickford pull off 11 saves.

Ronald Koeman is keen to sign a new long-term goalkeeper following mixed performances from Maarten Stekelenburg and Joel Robles this season and is determined to fend off interest from their rivals to sign Pickford, although they aren’t expecting to pay as much as Sunderland’s valuation.

Sunderland’s bargaining power has diminished significantly since being relegated to the Championship, but David Moyes will want to get top money for Pickford after it came to light that they would lose Jermain Defoe for nothing this summer.

Pickford is currently the highest rated goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues this season, summing up what has been a fantastic campaign for the youngster.
