Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago in a cut-price deal, claims Spanish outlet SPORT.
Thiago has entered the final 12 months of his existing Bayern deal and is stalling on a new contract.
The Spain international reportedly wants to play in the Premier League and Bayern will sell this summer if a new deal can not be agreed.
Thiago was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United before joining Bayern in 2013 but then-manager David Moyes turned the midfielder down.
United are not interested in the 29-year-old now, either, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's midfield set for next season unless Paul Pogba leaves.
It has now emerged Premier League champions Liverpool are in pole position to sign Thiago and are reportedly even close to landing the Spaniard for just £31.6m.
Thiago is criminally underrated in Germany and would be a super addition to Liverpool's midfield, with Adam Lallana departing when his deal expires this summer.
Of players that attempted at least 25 dribbles in the Bundesliga this season, Thiago had the best success rate (85.5%).
