Tottenham defender Trippier wants Premier League stay over Napoli move

Kieran Trippier wants to stay in the Premier League but admits his future is in Tottenham’s hands this season.

Trippier has conceded he was not at his best last season and Tottenham are open to offers for the 28-year-old.

Napoli have already confirmed their interest in Trippier but the England international’s preference is to remain in England.

“I don’t know,” The Daily Mail quote Trippier as saying when asked about where he will be next season. “I go home now, spend time with my family, just recover after a long difficult season. Everybody’s got a decision to make, no matter what.

“Obviously this club has been very good for me over the last few years but I’ll enjoy my summer, come back in pre-season and that’s when I’ll sit down with the manager and have a talk about my future.

“I see a lot of speculation about me not being here. I give everything, 100 per cent every game, win lose or draw. So we’ll see what happens in pre-season.

“I want to stay in England. But what can you do? I’ll see what happens and what the club wants, most importantly.

“I give everything for this club - training sessions, games - so we’ll see what happens in pre-season.”

Trippier was axed by Gareth Southgate for England’s UEFA Nations League semi-final clash with the Netherlands on Thursday.

Trippier has been a key player for England under Southgate and was one of the Three Lions’ best players at the 2018 World Cup.

Despite his struggles last season, only Harry Kane (7.38) earned a higher WhoScored rating than Trippier (7.10) of all Tottenham players in the Premier League (5+ apps).
