Lyon have announced they have signed Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou on a free transfer.
N’Koulou, 26, has been out-of-contract with Marseille since the end of the last season and has agreed a four-year deal with Bruno Genesio’s side.
The Cameroon international has been one of Marseille’s best performers since joining from Monaco in 2011 and will serve as Samuel Umtiti’s replacement, with the French defender on the verge of joining Barcelona for €30m (£24.7m).
Since August 2011 no player has completed more passes in their own half in Ligue 1 than N’Koulou (4,986).
