Manchester United target wants new Chelsea deal

Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with Cesc Fabregas at Old Trafford at the end of the season but the midfielder has revealed he only has eyes on earning a new Chelsea deal.

Fabregas appeared on his way out of Chelsea when Antonio Conte was appointed manager more than 12 months ago but now the 30-year-old is now thought of as an important player for the Italian.

The Spain international has just more than 18 months remaining on his current deal, but Chelsea have a policy of only offering new one-year deals to players over 30.

Fabregas has been regularly linked with a move to United in his career and now Mourinho is understood to be keen on a reunion with the former Barcelona midfielder.

The Chelsea No.4 admitted this week that he still keeps in contact with Mourinho, but his focus is to renew with the defending Premier League champions.

“Would I like to renew? Yes, because it is a club that has always treated me well,” Fabregas told the London Evening Standard.

“I believe the fans have a lot of respect for me and I have a lot of respect for the last three-and-a-half years.

“This is a fantastic club for me and I have had a fantastic time here. Hopefully another contract will happen. Time will tell.”

Since joining Chelsea from Barcelona in 2014, Fabregas has provided more assists than any other Premier League player (38).
