Roma sack Garcia

Roma have confirmed they have sacked Rudi Garcia after three years in charge of the club.

Garcia, 51, who led Lille to the Ligue 1 title in 2011, was appointed Roma head coach at the start of the 2013/14 campaign and got off to the perfect start, winning all 10 of his first league matches in charge.

However, Roma struggled for consistency in the second half of last season and the Giallorossi have carried over that indifferent form into this campaign, costing Garcia his job.

“On behalf of myself and everyone at AS Roma, I’d like to thank Rudi Garcia for all his hard work since joining the club. We’ve all enjoyed some great moments during his time at Roma but we believe that this is the right time for a change,” Roma president Jim Pallotta said in an official statement, with Garcia’s assistants Frederic Bompard and Claude Fichaux also leaving.

Roma have won just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions and only managed to score 10 goals in that time.
