PSG wrap up permanent signing of Argentine striker

PSG have confirmed the permanent signing of Mauro Icardi from Serie A side Inter.

The Argentine striker joined the French giants on loan last summer with a move to making the move permanent.

And Icardi has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions.

"Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to announce the signing of Mauro Icardi on a permanent deal, following the striker’s loan from Inter Milan during the 2019-2020 season," a statement read on the club's official website.

"The 27-year-old Argentina international (8 caps), who also holds an Italian passport, has signed a four-year deal with the capital club until 30 June 2024.

"The Rosario-born player is the 16th Argentinian player in the history of Paris Saint-Germain, and has made 31 appearances for the Rouge et Bleu in the 2019-2020 season, picking up a Ligue 1 winner’s medal, scoring 20 goals and providing 4 assists.

Icardi has made a notable impact with PSG having scored 12 league goals prior to the cancellation of the 2019/20 season due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

And of the 45 players to have scored five or more Ligue 1 goals, only PSG teammates Kylian Mbappe (84.1 mins) and Neymar (101.5 mins) have a better mins per goal return than Icardi (105.7 mins) this season.
