Tottenham star set for bumper £220,000-a-week wages

Tottenham want to secure Son Heung-Min's long-term future with a bumper new deal as a reward for his performances, claims The Guardian.

Son still has three years left to run on his existing Tottenham contract but Jose Mourinho's side want to make him one of the club's top earners.

The 28-year-old is thought to currently pocket wages in the region of £140,000-a-week and Tottenham are prepared to offer in the region of £220,000-a-week.

Even though Tottenham have not received any offers for Son in recent transfer windows, they are aware he has impressed some of Europe's biggest clubs.

Son has raced to eight goals in Tottenham's first eight Premier League matches this season and also has two assists in that time.

In fact, only Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has found the back of the net as many times as the South Korea international in the Premier League this season.

Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele are currently Tottenham's top earners and proposed talks would see Son aligned on a similar pay scale to both.

Moreover, only Kane (8.39), Jack Grealish (8.18) and James Rodriguez (7.94) have garnered a higher WhoScored rating than Son (7.83) in the Premier League this season.
