Real Madrid have announced Toni Kroos has suffered knee ligament damage.
Kroos is understood to have picked up the injury during Madrid’s 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
The Germany international came through the win without needing to come off but Kroos is unlikely to feature again this month.
“Following tests carried out on Toni Kroos by the Sanitas Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprained to the exterior lateral ligament in the left knee,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
Zinedine Zidane’s will hope Kroos can recover in time for the second leg of their last 16 clash with Paris Saint-Germain on 6 March.
Madrid have five league games between now and the return leg against PSG and Kroos is expected to miss all of them.
In the last three La Liga campaigns, only Lionel Messi (35) and Luis Suarez (33) have provided more assists than Kroos (26).
