Neymar dropped from Paris Saint-Germain squad

Neymar has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for Saturday’s match against Montpellier after suffering a slight foot injury in training, reports RMC Sport.

The Brazil international will not be risked by Unai Emery but will return to first-team action against Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stages next week.

Neymar has courted controversy in the last week after arguing with Edinson Cavani over who takes set-pieces during PSG’s 2-0 win over Lyon last weekend and reportedly even apologised to the entire squad during training on Thursday.

PSG’s new No.10 has made a breathtaking start to the season after signing from Barcelona in a world record £193m deal over the summer, but Emery has already been tasked with resolving a power struggle in the squad.

Neymar has been awarded the WhoScored Man of the Match in four of his six appearances for PSG this season, playing a direct hand in 10 goals in that period (five goals, five assists). Only former team-mate Lionel Messi (9.21) has a higher WhoScored rating than Neymar (9.12) in Europe’s top five leagues.
