United consider extending Mourinho’s deal

Manchester United are weighing up whether to offer Jose Mourinho a new deal just six months into his three-year deal, reports The Guardian.

Mourinho, 53, replaced Louis van Gaal as United manager at the end of last season and the board are delighted with the start the team have made despite the fact they are 13 points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Nevertheless, the football has been hugely more encouraging compared to what has been seen at Old Trafford in the last three years and the United board are even reportedly hopeful Mourinho will be their manager for the next decade.

A deal of such length would be extremely out of character with the rest of Mourinho’s career having never stayed longer than four years at a club before being sacked.

United are 10 games unbeaten in all competitions, which is their best run since November 2014- January 2015 when they managed a run of 11 matches without defeat.
