Havertz should avoid the Premier League, claims ex-Manchester United forward
Kai Havertz should reject interest from the Premier League, despite a number of high profile suitors in the 20-year-old, according to former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Berbatov left Bayer Leverkusen for Tottenham in 2006 before moving to United in 2008.
All in all, the Bulgarian spent seven-and-a-half years in England before his move to Monaco in 2014 and despite enjoying success in the Premier League, Berbatov believes Havertz should reject a move to England at this stage of his career.
"There's a lot of talk that Liverpool, Chelsea and other teams are interested in him, so now he needs to be careful, not let that go to his head and stay focused on his game," Berbatov told Betfair.
"He has enough quality and if he continues the way he is going teams will still be there, they won't go away. All eyes are on the Bundesliga at the moment and when you score goals and play good football it is no surprise that teams like Liverpool want you.
"I would like to see Havertz in the Premier League at some point, but not right now. I think it is a bit too early for him, I want to see him play more games, score more goals and get more confidence and maturity."
Havertz has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Chelsea, while Berbatov's former side United have also been monitoring the German's situation with Bayer Leverkusen.
