Manchester City have made a bid of $24m (£16.7m) for Palmeiras forward Gabriel Jesus, according to One world Sports.
Jesus, 19, has been making waves in the Brazilian top flight this season and his performances have already seen him linked with a high profile move to one of Europe’s top clubs.
The Brazilian teenager has $24m release clause in his Palmeiras contract, which is only applicable for Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Real Madrid and second release clause of $40m (£27.4m) for every other club.
Juventus’ offer of $21m (14.4m) was the highest from those aforementioned clubs; trumping the $19m (£13m) Barcelona had bid for his services. However, both could now be forced to match his release clause following City’s offer.
Jesus has made an electric start to the Brasileirao this season and is currently the fourth highest rated player (7.53), having scored four goals and registered two assists.
He can play across the front three and has already shown a willingness to defend – averaging 2.2 tackles per game, which would have placed him in the top echelon of forward players in Europe’s top five leagues last season.
