Barcelona ready to throw Tottenham midfielder a lifeline

Barcelona are prepared to rescue Tanguy Ndombele from his Tottenham hell in the summer as they look to make midfield additions, reports Mundo Deportivo via The Daily Star.

The Frenchman became Spurs' club-record signing last summer, joining from Lyon with a huge reputation as one of the best young players on the continent.

However, while Ndombele has shown glimpses of his talent, his time in north London has been plagued by injury and fitness concerns.

New head coach Jose Mourinho has also previously lambasted the youngster and the relationship between the Spurs boss and Ndombele is believed to be strained, at best.

Barcelona are believed to hold a long standing interest in Ndombele and had eyed up a move for the 23-year-old during his time in Lyon.

Ndombele was on the receiving end of some scathing criticism from Mourinho earlier this month as he was hauled off at half time in the 1-1 draw at Burnley.

The France international has scored two goals and registered two assists in his debut Premier League season, returning a WhoScored rating of 6.76 in the process.
