Bayern hat-trick hero Harry Kane the star of European Team of the Week
Harry Kane scored his third Bayern Munich hat-trick of the season over the weekend, and the England hitman is the European Player of the Week. Representatives from Brighton, Werder Bremen, Brentford, Union Berlin, Fiorentina, Athletic Club and PSG also make the cut in the best XI across Europe’s top five leagues.
Bart Verbruggen (Brighton) – 8.47
Danny Welbeck may have bagged the winning goal for Brighton at Newcastle but goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen was the Seagulls’ star performer on Saturday. The Netherlands international made six saves and one high ball claim to land a WhoScored rating of 8.47.
Mitchell Weiser (Werder Bremen) – 8.39
Werder Bremen secured an impressive 4-2 win at Wolfsburg on Sunday, with Mitchell Weiser directly involved in two of their four goals. Weiser netted with his only shot and provided one assist from five key passes to make the XI.
Willi Orban (RB Leipzig) – 9.21
Willi Orban was instrumental as RB Leipzig beat Mainz 2-0 on Saturday. Indeed, the 31-year-old scored his first league goal of the season in the away victory and put in a fine shift off the ball, making nine clearances, six tackles and three shot blocks on his way to a WhoScored rating of 9.21.
Ethan Pinnock (Brentford) – 8.36
Partnering Orban at the back is Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock, who earned a WhoScored rating of 8.36 despite the Bees’ 2-1 loss at Manchester United. Tom Rothe (Union Berlin) – 8.61
Rounding of the defence is Union Berlin’s Tom Rothe, who is good value for his inclusion with a WhoScored rating of 8.61. Rothe was directly involved in both goals in Union Berlin’s 2-0 win at Holstein Kiel, netting with one of two shots and providing one assist from two key passes.
Andrea Colpani (Fiorentina) – 9.57
Andrea Colpani has been directly involved in three league goals this season, all of which came in Fiorentina’s resounding 6-0 win over Lecce. The 25-year-old struck with two of five shots and perhaps should have registered more than one assist having made five key passes to land a WhoScored rating of 9.57.
Danilo Cataldi (Fiorentina) – 9.67
The star player from Fiorentina’s 6-0 win at Lecce, Danilo Cataldi bagged a brace in the resounding victory. The Italian scored with both shots and made an additional two key passes at the Stadio Ettore Giardiniero. With three tackles to his name, Cataldi returned a WhoScored rating of 9.67.
Alex Berenguer (Athletic Club) – 8.88
Alex Berenguer claimed the WhoScored Player of the Match award in Athletic Club’s 4-1 win over Espanyol as the 29-year-old landed a rating of 8.88. Berenguer was directly involved in three of his side’s four goals, registering a brace of assists from two key passes and netting with one of two shots.
Featuring on the left flank is the top scorer in Ligue 1 this season. Bradley Barcola scored his seventh league goal of the campaign in PSG’s 4-2 win over Strasbourg, hitting the back of the net with one of five shots and providing one assist from three key passes. The France star also completed six dribbles in a display that returned a WhoScored rating of 9.43.

With a perfect WhoScored 10 rating, Harry Kane is the European Player of the Week. Kane bagged his third hat-trick of the season as Bayern Munich eased to a 4-0 win over VfB Stuttgart. The England skipper struck with three of his 10 shots and completed four dribbles to lead the charge in the XI.
Marvin Ducksch (Werder Bremen) – 9.57
It’s an all-Bundesliga front-pairing this week as Marvin Ducksch joins Kane on the frontline. Ducksch was directly involved in three of Werder Bremen’s four goals at Wolfsburg on Sunday, getting the better of Kamil Grabara with one of four shots, and providing two assists from four key passes to help return a WhoScored rating of 9.57.
