Strikers that should be on Premier League radars: Part II - Youngsters

Finding the next goalscoring gem is worth its weight in gold. If a side can sign a young upstart striker and they quickly find form, then the value skyrockets as the begin to shine on the grand stage. 

Convincing a young forward to up sticks in January is easier said than done, but there is value to be found in youthful strikers this month, and we've picked out three that your side could target if the goals are currently hard to come by. 

Borussia Dortmund made the decision to sell Alexander Isak to Real Sociedad over the summer, this despite the Swede excelling for Willem II in the second half of 2018/19. Indeed, Isak hit 13 goals and provided six assists for the Dutch side to return five WhoScored man of the match awards from his 16 league outings and a fine rating of 7.62. 

Isak penned a five-year deal with La Real in July, yet has found regular game time hard to come by, totalling just 581 minutes of LaLiga action across 19 appearances, 16 of which have been as a sub. William Jose is currently undisputed first choice frontman for the Basque side, but even so; the youngster has a commendable four league goals to his name. Isak, though, is a player who needs regular game time if he is to fulfill his immense potential and whether that is with Real Sociedad, it remains to be seen. 

Josh Maja had interest from top-flight English sides when it became clear he was available 12 months ago as Sunderland cashed in the youngster. However, it was French side Bordeaux that won the race to secure the striker's services, paying £3.5m to lure him to the south of France last January. 

Since then, however, Maja has registered just 788 minutes of Ligue 1 action, 590 minutes of which have come this season. In that time, though, the 21-year-old has five goals and two assists to his name, with the young forward having a direct hand in a goal every 84.3 minutes, that in itself a notable return. A hat-trick in a perfect-10 performance against Nimes last month was a timely reminder of his quality and while Bordeaux may be against cashing in on Maja, they already stand to make a profit on the youngster should the right offer come along. 

AZ Alkmaar may have sacrified top spot in the Eredivisie in the final week before the winter break, but the youthful Dutch outfit are Ajax's closest challengers to their crown. Much of that is down to the goalscoring exploits of Myron Boadu. Only Cyriel Dessers (12) has scored more goals than 18-year-old Boadu (11) in the Eredivisie this season with the Dutch international leading the AZ line with aplomb. 

At this stage, AZ remain in the title race so would be reluctant to lose one of their prized assets, but, now a Netherlands international, Boadu's stock continues to rise. Ajax previously tried to sign him at 12, while Arsenal have previously courted Boadu, so he has plenty of admirers in the Netherlands and beyond. The Dutch winter break may have seen him drop off the radar, but his early season form was enough to see a host of teams take note of AZ's rise up the table, spearheaded by Boadu.
