Tim Howard (Everton)
It's fair to say it's been a bitterly disappointing start to the league campaign for the Toffees but they'll be confident of a clean sheet ahead of Monday night's visit of QPR. Redknapp's side will travel to Goodison not only with the worst away record in the league, losing all 7 of their matches on the road and scoring just twice, but also without their suspended top scorer Charlie Austin. When also considering that Everton have kept a clean sheet in each of their last 2 meetings with the Hoops, Howard may be a safe choice when switching captain between match days - as is permitted in Football Fanager - with goalkeepers awarded more points for a clean sheet than their defensive counterparts.
Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)
Jose Mourinho will be demanding that his side bounce back from a shock defeat at Newcastle last time out so Saturday's visitors to Stamford Bridge Hull best beware. The Tigers slipped into the bottom three last weekend and are on a dismal run. With Chelsea having kept a clean sheet in 5 of their 7 home matches in the league as well as 5 of their last 7 meetings with Hull another may well be on the cards for Azpilicueta and co.
James Tomkins (West Ham)
Having moved up into the Champions League places once again last weekend West Ham really are riding on the crest of a wave right now and they'll be confident of continuing their current purple patch at Sunderland. The Black Cats have scored just once in their last 4 league matches and James Tomkins is in fine form for the Hammers, directly contributing to more goals (3) than any other centre-back in the Premier League this season.
Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)
With Arsenal going down to Stoke and Newcastle overcoming league leaders Chelsea last time out it may seem odd to opt for a home defender when the two meet this weekend. Nevertheless, the Magpies haven't been as strong on the road of late and they've failed to score in their last 3 meetings with the Gunners. Laurent Koscielny, whose expected return will be warmly welcomed, has netted in two of said meetings.
Ryan Bertrand (Southampton)
The wheels may have come off of the Southampton freight-train against the top teams of late but Ronald Koeman's side will be hopeful of keeping Burnley at bay this weekend. The league's best defence travel to face the joint worst attack and Bertrand has offered a threat from full-back, perhaps deserving more than his modest 2 assists to date, with no defender having created more clear-cut chances (4) in the Premier League.
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Gerrard may be at the heart of a debate as to whether he should be a regular starter for the Reds nowadays but Brendan Rodgers would do well to remember his captain's record against fierce rivals United ahead of their meeting on Sunday. The midfielder has netted against the Red Devils in each of the last 4 Premier League seasons, scoring 6 goals in that time, and certainly seems to raise his game when it comes to such rivalries.
Yaya Toure (Manchester City)
Joining the Liverpool veteran in midfield is another player who has come in for criticism for what has been perceived as a slow start to the season but the machine that is Yaya Toure seems to be picking up speed. City, who are on the best run of form in the league, travel to bottom club Leicester, who are on the worst, and Toure's steady improvements may be ominous for the Foxes, with the Ivorian netting in 3 of his last 4 Premier League appearances. Given that the Citizens are now without Aguero they'll need the likes of Toure to come to the fore, and up against a side in such poor form he may be a good choice of captain this Saturday.
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea)
One man who certainly did make a strong start to the campaign was Gylfi Sigurdsson, with the Icelandic international likely to be in the mood to prove to Spurs just what their missing after a summer reunion with Swansea. Tottenham haven't kept a clean sheet away from home since the opening day of the season and Swansea have scored twice in 4 of their last 5 games at the Liberty, so who's to say Sigurdsson can't come back to haunt his former employers.
Christian Benteke (Aston Villa)
With back-to-back wins since his return to the side Aston Villa are an entirely different prospect when Christian Benteke is available and it's something that local rivals West Brom are all to aware of. The Belgian striker scored on his last away day at Palace and has netted in two of his last three appearances against the Baggies, with 15 goals scored across those matches in what is typically a high-scoring affair.
Andy Carroll (West Ham)
Notching a brace as well as picking up an assist in West Ham's recent 3-1 win over Swansea, Andy Carroll is looking back to his best and, when injury free, is always an intimidating opponent for any side. The boyhood Newcastle fan and St. James' Park graduate will be the villain of the piece when the Hammers travel to Sunderland but is likely to relish the role, having scored the opener in the last meeting between these two on Wearside.
Bojan (Stoke)
It may have seemed a strange fit at the time but former Barcelona starlet Bojan certainly seems to be enjoying life at Stoke right now, scoring a decisive goal against Arsenal last weekend with another wrongly ruled out for offside. That goal followed another against the Gunners' North London rivals Spurs and the Potters will travel to face a Palace side whose defensive record (23 conceded) is better only than three other sides in the top-flight.
