Strikers Backed to End Season on a High in Buabook Match Markets
Looking ahead to the final day of the Premier League season, here we give you our tips of who to buy and sell with Buabook, the first player trading platform.
With real money to be won by signing up and trading shares in the players you predict will perform above or below expectations, you can add intrigue to a gameweek that may appear lacking in that regard given that the title and relegated sides have already been decided.
In this week’s piece we’re backing four strikers to score to end their seasons on a high - with a goal worth £1.00 to their statistical game earnings in Buabook’s match markets - and suggesting two defenders worth selling as they prepare to face tough opposition.
Olivier GIROUD - Buy vs Aston Villa
Having scored in each of his last 5 appearances against Aston Villa, Olivier Giroud will be aiming to find the net in back-to-back games having ended a goal drought of 9 matches in all competitions last weekend. The Frenchman will want to prove to his national team manager that he is the man to lead the line for les Bleus this summer.
The Gunners have scored 14 goals without reply in their last four meetings with relegated Villa, and still have an outside chance of leapfrogging fierce rivals Spurs into second. Giroud should get plenty of chances then, so I’d back him to find the net and would buy south of £0.75 this weekend.
Jamie VARDY - Buy vs Chelsea
It’s likely to be a friendly atmosphere at the Bridge come Sunday as last season’s champions welcome their unlikely successors to the throne to the capital, along with former boss Claudio Ranieri. While motivation may not be at its highest for Leicester, Jamie Vardy would no doubt love to end a sensational campaign as the league’s top scorer, currently one behind Harry Kane on 24.
The Blues will be without captain John Terry and while the likes of Hazard and Fabregas have shown improvements under Hiddink, the backline is still far too accommodating. Back Vardy to breach the Blues defence but be patient, with 15 of the striker’s goals netted in the second half of matches. Buy after the interval at £0.55 if he hasn’t found the net by that point.
Anthony MARTIAL - Buy vs Bournemouth
While it looks set to be an ultimately disappointing campaign for United, there is hope for the future in the form of Martial. The Frenchman has scored 17 goals in all competitions, 7 of which have come in his last 11 appearances, with 2 assists also to his name in that time.
With the Red Devils still hoping to gain a top 4 spot, dependant on Manchester City slipping up at Swansea, the onus will be on the 20-year old to continue his fine form against a struggling defence. Bournemouth have failed to keep a clean sheet in 9 games so I’m buying Martial south of £0.60 this Sunday.
Christian BENTEKE - Buy vs West Brom
With Jurgen Klopp set to ring the changes ahead of the Europa League final, Christian Benteke should get a start and will aim to end a difficult season on a high note to improve his chances of starting for Belgium at the Euros. Despite his struggles, if the striker were to find the net it would be his 10th league goal of the season and the fourth year in a row that he has reached double figures.
The 25-year old won’t be a popular figure at the Hawthorns given his Villa past, scoring in three matches agains the Baggies during his time in the Midlands. With 3 goals and an assist in his last 5 league appearances though, I’d buy Benteke south of £0.60 this weekend.
Jamaal LASCELLES - Sell vs Tottenham
Following a win for fierce rivals Sunderland in midweek, Newcastle were condemned to the drop, meaning only one team has anything other than pride to play for at St. James’ Park. Spurs are desperate to protect their second spot from Arsenal and will look to play on the front foot from the start against a fragile home side.
While Lascelles has come in and performed well since Rafa Benitez’s appointment, he isn’t a busy defender, winning just 12 tackles all season, preferring to read the game and make challenges as a last resort. His stats don’t stack up as a result, and with £0.20 for every goal conceded by a defender, I’d sell if his value rises north of £0.30.
Jordi AMAT - Sell vs Manchester City
With Francesco Guidolin allowing his players that are set to play at the Euros a rest this weekend, Jordi Amat is in line to start in place of Ashley Williams once more, with the task of preventing Sergio Aguero’s bid to retain the Premier League golden boot. Moreover, City have scored 14 times in their last 5 matches against Swansea, winning all five.
With Manchester City aiming to sign off in style under Manuel Pellegrini, needing a result to ensure that they keep hold of fourth spot, the visitors should play a strong side as opposed to their hosts. I’d sell any Swansea defender whose price rises above £0.30, with Amat in particular standing out.
