Leicester players occupy three of top five places in Premier League form ranking
There were changes across the board in our latest Premier League player form rankings, with Eden Hazard unsurprisingly moving up one spot into first after his dazzling performance against West Ham on Monday night.
Hazard scored both of Chelsea’s goals in a 2-0 win over the Hammers, dribbling past several West Ham players to open the scoring. It was a typically brilliant Hazard performance and Maurizio Sarri was right to say £100m is cheap for the Belgian amid interest from Real Madrid.
The Chelsea star has won the WhoScored Man of the Match award four times in his last six league appearances and played a direct hand in six goals in that time (four goals, two assists).
Hazard’s nearest rival as the most in form Premier League player is Leicester striker Jamie Vardy. The 32-year-old has rediscovered his best form since Brendan Rodgers was appointed manager and now has Gary Lineker’s goalscoring record for Leicester in his sights.
Vardy has impressively scored or assisted eight goals in his last six appearances for Leicester, earning the Foxes four additional points in that time. The former England international moves up eight spots in the top-10 as a result but is still a long way off Hazard.
The Leicester frontman is joined in the top five by team-mates James Maddison and Wilfred Ndidi. The latter has actually dropped one place despite an increase in rating, while Maddison breaks into the top-10 after his goalscoring performance at the weekend.
All three have been immense since Rodgers came in and Maddison is now in race with Lyon’s Memphis Depay to become the first player to register 100 key passes in Europe’s top five leagues this season. Both are currently locked on 92, at least four more than any other player.
Watford and both Manchester clubs were not involved in Premier League action this weekend so Troy Deeney, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne managed to hold onto their places in the top-10.
Roberto Firmino is only the second player to break into the top-10 this week, moving up six places into seventh after helping Liverpool return to the league’s summit.
The Brazil international assisted captain Jordan Henderson in their 3-1 win over Southampton on Friday and has now played a direct hand in five goals in his last six league outings (four goals, one assist).
QUALIFYING RULES Only ratings taken from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on.
