Iheanacho on fire as Chelsea and Burnley dominate Premier League team of the week
Chelsea gave their top-four hopes a huge boost with a 1-0 win at West Ham on Saturday evening to open up a three-point gap between themselves and the fifth-placed Hammers. Burnley, meanwhile, all-but secured their Premier League status with a resounding 4-0 win at Wolves on Sunday and the Clarets are the dominat side in our team of the week.
Martin Dubravka (Newcastle) - 8.34
Joe Willock was the man of the moment for Newcastle once more as he came off the bench for the third game running to score a decisive goal for the Magpies, but the performance of Martin Dubravka gave Steve Bruce's side a chance of a result at Anfield in the first place. Dubravka made a total of eight saves on Merseyside in a man of the match performance that yielded a WhoScored rating of 8.34.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United) - 8.13
Manchester United's 0-0 draw with Leeds was a turgid affair, but the stalemate marked Aaron Wan-Bissaka's third man of the match performance of the season. The United right-back returned a WhoScored rating of 8.13 at Elland Road, marking his third best performance of the season, as he made five interceptions, four clearances and one tackle in a solid rearguard showing.
Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) - 7.51
The first of three Chelsea players to feature in the Premier League team of the week after their 1-0 win at West Ham, Antonio Rudiger impressed at the London Stadium. Indeed, the centre-back was dominant in the air as he won seven aerial duels in the London derby, while additional returns of three clearances, three tackles and one interception saw the German land a WhoScored rating of 7.51.
Burnley are the dominant side in the Premier League team of the week following their 4-0 win at Wolves on Sunday with Ben Mee the first Clarets representative. The Burnley skipper was at his proactive best at the heart of the defence as he made four clearances and three interceptions to contribute towards a WhoScored rating of 7.48.
Rounding off the defence is the second Chelsea player in the XI. Ben Chilwell provided the crucial assist, his fifth of the season, for Timo Werner's winner at West Ham in a man of the match showing. Chilwell's assist came from one of three key passes, while the England international defended well, too, making four tackles to return a WhoScored rating of 8.13.
Matheus Pereira (West Brom) - 8.21
Matheus Pereira bagged his ninth league goal of the campaign in West Brom's 2-2 draw at Aston Villa on Sunday night and while the stalemate doesn't help the Baggies in their quest to beat the drop, the Brazilian's stock continues to rise. Indeed, Pereira earned the WhoScored man of the match award at Villa Park with a rating of 8.21 as he hit the back of the net with one of his four shots, while he was unfortunate not to add an assist as he created three goalscoring chances.
Ashley Westwood (Burnley) - 8.32
Of the five league goals Ashley Westwood has had a direct hand in, two have come in his last two outings as he netted his second goal of the campaign at Molineux on Sunday. Rounding off the Chelsea contingent is midfielder Mason Mount. While Mount was unable to contribute to a goal in Saturday's win at West Ham, it wasn't for want of trying as he managed six shots and three key passes at the London Stadium. The England international battled well off the ball, too, as he made four tackles to make the team with a WhoScored rating of 8.10.
Dwight McNeil (Burnley) - 8.51
Of the five assists Dwight McNeil has provided in the Premier League this season, two came in Burnley's 4-0 win at Wolves as the winger set up two of Chris Wood's three goals on Sunday. With a perfect 10 WhoScored rating, Chris Wood is the Premier League player of the week. Wood had a direct hand in all four goals Burnley scored at Wolves, bagging a hat-trick from six shots and registering the assist for Ashley Westwood's goal, that coming from one of two key passes. All in all, it was a memorable afternoon for Wood, who became the first Burnley player to return a perfect 10 rating from WhoScored.
Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester) - 8.52
Kelechi Iheanacho rounds off the team of the week after another fine showing on the Leicester frontline. The Nigerian hitman has now scored nine goals in his last seven league outings after hitting the back of the net in Monday's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
