Euro 2020 Player Rankings: Dortmund star Sancho endures more England frustration
England bounced back from their surprise defeat to Czech Republic with a 6-0 win away to Bulgaria and are now on the brink of qualification for Euro 2020 next summer.
Monday's match in Sofia, however, was ruined by the shocking behaviour of a section of Bulgaria's supporters, who subjected some of England's players to vile racist abuse.
The international break was meant to be a time of celebration for England, but it ended on a desperately depressing note, as football plunged further into the dark ages.
England midfielder Jordan Henderson revealed after the match the squad were determined to make Bulgaria suffer on the pitch rather than walk away and let the racists supporters win.
It showed, as England romped to a comfortable win and the margin of victory should have been even wider, with a number of players guilty of missing good opportunities.
So how did England's players fare over the two matches and how have their performances impacted the WhoScored rankings for qualification?
Unsurprisingly, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane are still first and second, respectively, as England's top WhoScored rated players.
Sterling won the penalty in England's defeat to Czech Republic and played a direct hand in three of the six goals they put past Bulgaria (two goals, one assist).
Kane, meanwhile, was the WhoScored Man of the Match in both matches and even earned a perfect WhoScored 10 rating against Bulgaria.
The England captain scored in both games and registered a hat-trick of assists against Bulgaria, though would have been disappointed only to have scored once on Monday.
Marcus Rashford responded well to being dropped against Czech Republic with a lively performance in Sofia. The Manchester United striker scored a tremendous solo effort after seven minutes and completed the most dribbles (5).
He is now the sixth highest WhoScored rated player for England in qualification, moving up three places and sitting just behind new entry Tyrone Mings, who enjoyed an impressive Three Lions debut earlier this week.
There has unsurprisingly been some traction on Football INDEX for both Rashford and Mings in the last week. Mings' share price has increased 20.65% over the last seven days of trading, while Rashford's price has marginally increased after a sharp decline over the last month.
United supporters will hope Rashford will have gained some confidence over the international break ahead of their crunch match with rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell climbed four places in the rankings to seventh after a solid display against Bulgaria. The 22-year-old was surprisingly overlooked for Danny Rose in England's first match but proved in Bulgaria he should be their first-choice left-back going forward.
Chilwell's Football INDEX share price has dipped in the last 24 hours of trading but he is certainly someone to keep in mind for your portfolios ahead of the upcoming transfer windows, with Chelsea reportedly very keen on him.
It's unsurprising that the biggest losers from the break where those that started against Czech Republic and were then ultimately dropped for the match with Bulgaria.
Declan Rice didn't make a single tackle against Czech Repbulic and has dropped one place in the rankings, while Jadon Sancho endured another frustrating night for the Three Lions and drops seven places.
Aside from a blistering first half display against Kosovo, Sancho is yet to perform for England at the same level as he has for Borussia Dortmund over the last 12 months.
The 19-year-old was guilty of missing good goal scoring chances in both matches and looks to have momentarily dropped below Rashford in the pecking order to complete England's front three.
Sancho's Football INDEX share price has dropped 0.95% over the last seven days of trading but that is nothing to be concerned about. With league action resuming this weekend, his share price should steadily increase going forward and expect huge movement when the transfer rumour mill kicks into gear.
Danny Rose and Michael Keane were also big losers over the break. Rose was utterly bullied against Czech Republic and partially at fault for the winning goal their opponents scored last week. He drops six places and his WhoScored rating for qualifiaction has now dipped below 7.00, while Keane falls four places and proved he is not good enough to be England's starting centre-back.
Keane's Football INDEX share price has dropped 7.63% over the last week and there is no reason to consider the Everton defender for your portfolios, even at £0.41 a share.
