Man City wing-wizard Doku surges to top of Premier League form standings

There's a new leader atop the Premier League form standings after the weekend's action. Ollie Watkins and Douglas Luiz have dropped out of the top three following Aston Villa's 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest, while an Everton pair have broken into the top 10, as has a Manchester United midfielder and a Manchester City attacker. Liverpool, Brentford, Chelsea and Newcastle are all represented in WhoScored's Premier League form standings.

10. Vitalii Mykolenko (Everton) - 7.39

Propping up the top 10 on the form standings if Everton left-back Vitalii Mykolenko. The Ukraine international has been quietly impressive for the Toffees in recent weeks, during which he scored his first goal and won his first player of the match award of the Premier League season, to have returned a WhoScored form rating of 7.39.

9. Dwight McNeil (Everton) - 7.40

Remaining with the Toffees, Dwight McNeil also makes the top 10. The Everton winger put in his two best rated performances of the season in two of his last four appearances, which includes a player of the match display against Bournemouth, to feature in ninth.

8. Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa) - 7.40

After he placed third on the form leaderboard last week, Douglas Luiz drops to eighth having, like the rest of the Aston Villa squad, struggled in Sunday's trip to Nottingham Forest. The performance marked the Brazilian's third worst rated outing of the season and that's seen his form rating fall to 7.40.

7. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) - 7.42

A bigger fall from grace in the Aston Villa camp is that of Ollie Watkins, who having been the Premier League's form player last week, has since dropped to seventh. Following a decent run from Watkins, the England international has now failed to score in back-to-back league games, while the loss at Nottingham Forest marked his second worst rated display of the campaign.

6. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) - 7.46

Bruno Fernandes has earned four player of the match awards, and three of those have come in his last six appearances with the Manchester United bagging a late winner at Fulham over the weekend. While United continue to struggle, Fernandes has been a shining light for Erik ten Hag's side.

5. Anthony Gordon (Newcastle) - 7.46

As Gareth Southgate named his England squad for the November internationals, Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon was one overlooked by the Three Lions boss. Only one English player is in better form than Gordon according to WhoScored ratings, with the youngster directly involved in four goals, scoring three, in his last five league outings.

4. Conor Gallagher (Chelsea) - 7.47

While many expected Conor Gallagher to leave Chelsea over the summer, the midfielder has been arguably the Blues' most important player this season. The 23-year-old's best performance of the season came in Monday's chaotic 4-1 win at Tottenham on Monday and that has seen him rise to fourth on the WhoScored form standings.

3. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) - 7.54

Having been 10th on the form leaderboard last week, Virgil van Dijk has surged into third, this despite Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Luton on Sunday evening. A key reason for the rise is that the Luton display pushed the forgettable performance at Newcastle out of contention for the form standings.

2. Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) - 7.61

Brentford came from behind to beat West Ham 3-2 at the weekend and while Bryan Mbeumo was unable to contribute to a goal, the Cameroon international keeps his place in second in the from standings. However, the form rating has dropped from 7.70 to 7.61, so the Bees will be hoping he can put in another match winning display ahead of the international break.

1. Jeremy Doku (Manchester City) - 7.77

Surging to the top of the Premier League form standings is Manchester City summer signing Jeremy Doku. The Belgian has proven an inspired signing for the defending champions and put in an absolutely superb showing as City tore Bournemouth to shreds. Indeed, Doku scored one and provided four assists to help return a WhoScored form rating of 7.77.
