Arsenal's Ramsdale among top performers in Premier League team of the week

 

This week’s team of the week is dominated by Nottingham Forest, who are represented by three players after their 2-0 win over rivals Leicester on Saturday. Players from Arsenal, Wolves, Chelsea, Brighton, Southampton, Everton and Manchester United also make the cut 

 

Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal) – 8.57 

 

Arsenal recorded their first away league win at north London rivals Tottenham since 2014, winning 2-0 on Sunday. Though the Gunners controlled the first half, it was when Spurs threatened to comeback in the second that Aaron Ramsdale was able to show his heroics to help seal the win for his team. Throughout the game he made seven saves, two high ball claims and two clearances, in order to maintain the clean sheet and play a massive part in earning his side the three points. Overall Ramsdale earned a WhoScored rating of 8.57 for his performance. 

 

Serge Aurier (Nottingham Forest) – 7.85 

 

Nottingham Forest made it three games unbeaten in the Premier League as they best Leicester 2-0. Serge Aurier played a key part in their win both in defence and attack. Up against a dangerous Leicester forwad line, Aurier wasn’t dribbled past once in the game and completed all three of his tackles, while making two interceptions and six clearances. He also won possession in the attacking third more times than any other player in the game (3) and registered two key passes. His overall Whoscored rating was 7.85 as a result. 

 

Max Kilman (Wolves) – 7.98 

 

Wolves recorded a much-needed win on Saturday as they beat West Ham 1-0, only their fourth in the Premier League this season, as they moved out of the relegation zone. Max Kilman's solidity in the back four played a massive part in the victory. No player made more tackles (5), clearances (8) or won more aerial duels (5) than Kilman as he helped Wolves keep only their fourth clean sheet of the season. His overall WhoScored rating for the game was 7.98. 

 

Thiago Silva (Chelsea) – 7.96 

 

Prior to Sunday, Chelsea were winless in their last four games in all competitions, but were able to make to get all three points at the weekend with a 1-0 win over London rivals Crystal Palace. Thiago Silva was as solid as ever at the heart of the Blues defence, winning more aerial duels than any other player (6), while making four tackles, one interception and seven clearances, earning him a Whoscored rating of 7.96. 

 

Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal) – 7.39 

 

One of the key players for Arsenal in their 2-0 win over Spurs was Oleksandr Zinchenko. His involvement throughout was underlined by his 92 touches of the ball, the most by any player in that game, while also completing two dribbles. His determination to hold off any Tottenham attack was emphaised by the fact he wasn’t dribbled past once and was able to complete two tackles and two clearances. What really captured his determined performance was his four aerial duels won in the match, which only Matt Doherty (5) could better in the game. Overall, Zinchenko landed a WhoScored rating of 7.39. 

 

Solly March (Brighton) – 9.26 

 

Brighton carried on what has been an extraordinary season, beating Liverpool 3-0 on Saturday. Solly March was involved in all three of the Seagulls’ goals, scoring two and assisting Danny Welbeck for the third. Throughout the game he was constantly causing danger for Liverpool’s defence, registering four shots, three of which were on target, and also four key passes, the most by any player in the game. On top of this, he maintained a pass success rate of 88.9% and completed one dribble, earning him a Whoscored rating of 9.26, which makes March the player of the week.

James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) – 8.91 

 

Southampton came from behind to record an important 2-1 win over Everton. One of their key players was on form once again as James Ward-Prowse scored both goals at Goodison Park, including a superb free-kick, to clinch his side the win. He was a constant threat for the Toffees in the game, mustering five shots, four of which were on target, and registering three key passes to inspire his side as they recorded their first Premier League win since October. 

 

Amadou Onana (Everton) – 8.46 

 

For Everton, it was a disappointing afternoon. Amadou Onana was able to give them a lead before half-time before Saints eventually won the game in the second half. But for Onana, he put in a decent performance. As well as scoring the opener, his first goal in Everton colours, he was also able to maintain a pass success rate of 92.5%, the second best in Saturday's game, as well as manage three shots and complete two dribbles. He prevented Southampton from running away with the game with two tackles, three interceptions and four aerial duels won. 

 

Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) – 7.47 

 

Manchester United earned the bragging rights over their local rivals Manchester City in the lunchtime kickoff on Saturday as they came from behind to win 2-1. Marcus Rashford continued his excellent form of late to score what turned out to be the winner less than five minutes after his side had equalised. As well as scoring, Rashford maintained a 100% shot accuracy from his three shots and completed one dribble, while making making two tackles and winning one aerial duel, to return a WhoScored rating for the game was 7.47. 

 

Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest) – 8.70 

 

Morgan Gibbs-White was pivotal in Forest’s win over local rivals Leicester on Saturday, contributing to both goals with two assists. He was a constant threat to Brendan Rodger’s side, having three shots, two of which were on target, while also completing two dribbles and winning two aerial duels. No player registered more key passes in the game than Gibbs-White (4), conveying the impact of his performance, earning him a WhoScored rating of 8.70. 

 

Brennan Johnson (Nottingham Forest) – 8.58 

 

While it was Gibbs-White creating both goals for Forest, it was Brennan Johnson who was scoring them, as he doubled his Premier League goals tally for the season with two goals on Saturday. He had two shots in the game, giving him a conversion rate for the game of 100%. In addition to getting on the scoresheet, Johnson was also able to complete more dribbles than any other player (3), while also making one tackle and winning one aerial duel to earn a WhoScored rating was 8.58.
