Tottenham 2-1 Ratings Explained: Hosts leave it late to land three points at Wembley
Tottenham left it late to keep their Champions League hopes alive as a Harry Kane brace secured a 2-1 win over PSV at Wembley.
TOTTENHAM - 7.25
Paulo Gazzaniga - 7.34 - Could do little to stop Luuk de Jong from heading PSV ahead and made a huge save to deny Donyell Malen when the scores were level. Kept his composure to Cruyff turn Hirving Lozano in the second half.
Serge Aurier - 6.90 - The best and worst of the Ivorian was summed up in the space of 15 first half seconds as he firstly held off Steven Bergwijn before nutmegging the PSV winger to set Spurs on the front foot in his own corner, only to inadvertently allow the ball to go out for a corner moments later. His crossing was wayward, even if he did break forward well, and was taken off with 15 minutes to play.
Toby Alderweireld - 7.28 - A solid showing from the experienced Belgian, who looked far more comfortable than he did last month in Eindhoven. Won six aerial duels and was on hand to make four clearances.
Davinson Sanchez - 7.33 - Almost had an assist in the first half and was solid throughout as he made five clearances.
Ben Davies - 7.55 - Ponderous in possession, with his passing not penetrative enough in the opening 45 minutes. The Welshman’s crossing more often than not found a PSV player rather than a teammate before the interval. Was more adventurous in the second half and it was his cross that resulted in Harry Kane and Tottenham’s second in the 90th minute.
Harry Winks - 8.07 - An excellent performance in the middle of the park from the youngster. Dictated the tempo with a 89.8% pass success rate and made more key passes (7) than any other player.
Dele Alli - 7.42 - Back in the starting XI following injury, he came close to drawing Tottenham level, but his goal bound flick was cleared off the line by Angelino. Was twice denied by Jeroen Zoet in the first half as he worked his way into good positions in the final third.
Son-Heung Min - 5.94 - Nowhere near his best in the opening 45 minutes. Got into good positions in the final third, but often slowed attacks down as he looked to cut onto his right. Came off with 15 minutes to play in a sub-par showing.
Christian Eriksen - 7.32 - Looked to get on the ball wherever possible and had looked as though he’d grabbed a stranglehold of the game after Spurs fell behind early on. Made three key passes, which was a commendable return as he recovers from a stomach injury. It was his ball upfield that presented Tottenham with the eventual equaliser.
Lucas Moura - 7.74 - Came close to scoring a sensational equaliser midway through the first half as he slalomed past three PSV players before he eventually poked the ball wide. Came off after the hour mark, which the home support didn’t like, with the Brazilian the hosts’ brightest attacking spark. Completed nine dribbles before his withdrawal in another notable showing.
Harry Kane - 9.30 (Man of the Match) - Tottenham’s saviour. Netted a late brace as the hosts turned the game on its head to come from behind to win 2-1. Scored with two of his four shots on target to contribute towards man of the match performance.

Erik Lamela - 6.19 - Looked to get involved in play, but his only moment of note came in a shot that went over.
Fernando Llorente - 6.80 - Brought on to provide a more direct attacking threat and it worked almost immediately as he played a nice one-two with Harry Kane that saw the England international hit the back of the net. Perhaps should have put Tottenham ahead late on, only to head straight at Jeroen Zoet after being picked out by Harry Winks.
Kieran Trippier - 6.34 - Gave away a late free-kick that almost saw Tottenham concede and was booked for his troubles.
PSV - 6.90
Jeroen Zoet - 7.66 - Was on hand to deny Harry Kane, Lucas Moura, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli in the first half with a series of decent saves. Looked to be headed for an impressive clean sheet, but was finally beaten by Kane with 10 minutes left by conceding an unfortunate second in the dying embers..
Denzel Dumfries - 6.92 - Not the best display, but he worked hard defensively to keep Son Heung-Min in check.
Daniel Schwaab - 7.50 - Was on hand to alleviate pressure on the PSV goal with 13 clearances. Seemed drawn to the ball to turn away almost every Tottenham cross until late on.
Nick Viergever - 6.86 - Was crucial in gifting Luuk de Jong the space to run into for the PSV captain’s opening after 60 seconds.
Angelino - 7.13 - Read the passage of play well as he headed Dele Alli’s flick off the line and away from danger to keep PSV ahead minutes after they took the lead.
Pablo Rosario - 7.43 - Broke up play well over the 90 minutes as he made five clearances, six interceptions and four tackles in a solid display from the 21-year-old.
Jorrit Hendrix - 7.06 - While not as effective as his midfield teammate, he still made one tackle, three interceptions and six clearances.
Gaston Pereiro - 7.01 - Provided the assist for Luuk de Jong’s opener and defender well, as he made two tackles and four clearances. A solid midfield performance from the Uruguayan.
Hirving Lozano - 6.54 - While not a standout outing, he was always willing to run onto possession over the top of the Tottenham defence to ease pressure on the PSV backline and hit the home side on the counter.
Luuk de Jong - 7.98 - Scored the equaliser in the reverse fixture and put PSV ahead early on, powering a Gaston Pereiro corner past Paulo Gazzaniga. A decent showing from the PSV captain, who won seven aerial duels and held the ball up well where possible.
Steven Bergwijn - 6.62 - Was far from his effective best in the final third before his second half substitution.
Subs
Donyell Malen - 5.98 - Could have put PSV ahead, but his powerful close range shot was turned behind by Paulo Gazzaniga.
Trent Sainsbury - 5.89 - Came on with 10 minutes to go to shore PSV up, but it backfired as PSV were pegged back late on to lose.
Erick Gutierrez - 5.95 - Didn’t have enough time to impact the match.
