Premier League round-up: Sunday’s man of the match performances assessed
Sunday's Premier League action was packed with drama and goals. Arsenal left it late in their five-goal thriller with Cardiff, while Tottenham slipped to a shock defeat away to Watford. Manchester United lifted some pressure off Jose Mourinho's shoulders with a comfortable 2-0 win on the road to struggling Burnley, but Paul Pogba missed a penalty and Marcus Rashford saw red for the Red Devils. We round up the star men from the three matches.
Cardiff 2-3 Arsenal - Alexandre Lacazette - 8.88 rating
Alexandre Lacazette has been forced to be patient so far this season but further illustrated why he should not be starting makes on the bench. Unai Emery started Lacazette with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the first time this season and the former weighed in with one goal and assist during a Man of the Match performance. He hit the target with three of his five shots, whilst also denied by the woodwork. He also created two further goalscoring chances to go with his assist.
Watford 2-1 Tottenham - Troy Deeney 8.11 rating
Watford have now started a top-flight season with four straight league wins for the first time since the 1988-89 campaign and captain Troy Deeney has been integral to that run. The 30-year-old netted his second goal in four league games and also won nine aerial duels up against Tottenham’s defenders. Deeney had three shots on goal in total, helping Watford to inflict Tottenham’s first defeat of the campaign.

Burnley 0-2 Manchester United - Romelu Lukaku - 9.04 rating
Romelu Lukaku scored his first Premier League brace for Manchester United since his debut in the competition for Jose Mourinho’s side. The Belgium international spurned a couple of good chances to get his hat-trick in the second half but worked tirelessly in attack for the away side. Lukaku ended with four shots on target from five attempts, two dribbles completed, three aerial duels won and also four key passes to help relive some pressure on Mourinho.
