Premier League form rankings: Leicester players occupy three of top four spots

Liverpool survived a scare at home to Tottenham to maintain their six-point advantage over Manchester City in the Premier League title race and avoid dropping points for the second week running. Jurgen Klopp's side conceded in the first 47 seconds but rallied back to win 2-1 against Tottenham at Anfield.

Manchester United picked up their first away league win of the season to move into the top half of the table, while Unai Emery's future at Arsenal is in further doubt after the Gunners blew a 2-0 lead at home to Crystal Palace to draw 2-2. However, the performance of gameweek 10 belonged to Leicester. The Foxes equalled the record for the biggest win in Premier League history after smashing nine unanswered goals past Southampton.

Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy both scored hat-tricks in the rout, as Leicester also became the first side to have two players score trebles in the same Premier League game since Arsenal managed the feat in 2003 (also against Southampton). With Tottenham and Arsenal both dropping points, Leicester managed to extend their lead over fifth to four points.

Brendan Rodgers' side have won four of their last six matches and unsurprisingly dominate our player form rankings with four representatives. Vardy has moved up 12 places into second, behind Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne, following his hat-trick against Southampton. Vardy was one of three Leicester players to garner a WhoScored 10 rating against Southampton and the 32-year-old now has six goals in his last six league appearances.

Vardy's Leicester team-mates, Ricardo Pereira and Wilfred Ndidi, have also improved their standing in the player form rankings to sit third and fourth, respectively, while James Maddison jumps 15 places into seventh. Leicester have a run of very affordable games to come before Christmas and there is no reason why they cannot further cement a place in the top four.

Elsewhere in the top-10 player form rankings are two new qualifiers. Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic have attracted all the attention for Chelsea for good and bad this season but it is Willian who sits in fifth after quietly putting together a great run of displays. The Brazilian has played a direct hand in four goals in his last six league appearances, with his WhoScored rating dipping below 7.00 in a game just once in that time.

Tim Krul is the second new qualifier and he completes the XI, boosted by Sunday's immense showing against Manchester United. The former Newcastle goalkeeper saved two penalties against United, becoming the first player since Maarten Stekelenburg in October 2016 (2 vs Manchester City) to save multiple spot-kicks in the same Premier League match. Krul also made a string of other fantastic saves to gain an impressive WhoScored rating of 9.33 in a 3-1 defeat.

With new players entering the top-10 it means players have to drop out. Sergio Aguero was second in the rankings in the last edition but is out of the picture for now after losing his place in the pecking order at City to Gabriel Jesus. The Argentine is goalless in his last three league apppearances for the defending champions.  

Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish was top last week but has dropped five places following their 3-0 defeat to City on Saturday, while team-mate John McGinn, who was third, has been replaced in the top-10. Despite another impressive victory for Chelsea, Tammy Abraham and Jorginho have both slipped out of the top-10 for the time being.

Qualifying Rules  

Only ratings from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in two of the last three league matches and started at least six of the last eight available.
