Season so far

Tottenham went into the international break with a 100% record after earning narrow wins over Manchester City, Wolves and Watford, but returned to domestic duties with a 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace in a disappointing display from Nuno Espirito Santo's side. Spurs got their Europa Conference League campaign off with a result, albeit in a 2-2 draw in Rennes on Thursday evening.

Chelsea are unbeaten in all competitions ahead of this London derby. The Blues have dropped points just the once this season, that coming in a 1-1 draw at Liverpool, where they were reduced to 10 men just before the break. The Blues have conceded just one goal from open play in all competitions this season, that Gerard Moreno's equaliser in the UEFA Super Cup last month, and they earned a 1-0 win over Zenit to get their Champions League defence off to a winning start.

Team News

Spurs have a raft of injury concerns ahead of the welcome of Chelsea, with Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura both sustaining knocks either side of half time in their 2-2 draw with Rennes on Thursday night. Son Heung-Min and Ryan Sessegnon will be assessed, while Eric Dier was taken off early on in last weekend's 3-0 loss at Crystal Palace. South American trio Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez and Giovani Lo Celso are lacking fitness having not trained fully with the squad following international duty, though with Japhet Tanganga also suspended, the former pair could start at the heart of the defence, unless Nuno decides to start Joe Rodon. Tanguy Ndombele made his first appearance of the season for Spurs and impressed, which could see him start in midfield.

Thomas Tuchel has no such worries in the Chelsea camp, with Christian Pulisic his only confirmed absentee for the trip across the capital. N'Golo Kante trained with the squad in the build up to Tuesday's 1-0 win over Zenit St. Petersburg but sat out the victory. He comes into contention for the Blues at Tottenham, but needs to oust Mateo Kovacic in the middle of the park if he is to partner Jorginho.

Key Battle: Harry Kane vs Romelu Lukaku

Tottenham vs Chelsea: Premier League team news and prediction

After a move to Manchester City failed to materialise over the summer, Harry Kane has struggled to justify the intense interest in his services for the defending champions. Indeed, Kane has scored just two goals this season, both coming against Pacos de Ferreira in Tottenham's Europa Conference League second leg win over the Portuguese side. The 28-year-old scored in every England outing over the international break, but a failure to hit the back if the net in three of his four Spurs starts this season is a worry.

For Romelu Lukaku, the pair couldn't be in more contrasting form. Whereas Kane has scored in just one of four Spurs starts this season, Lukaku has failed to score in just the once in four games he has featured in from the get go, netting four goals in that run. That said, the Belgian's form against Spurs is poor having scored just one goal in 13 appearances against the north London side, that coming in a 3-2 loss with Everton at Spurs back in 2017.

Score Prediction: Tottenham 0-2 Chelsea
