Here we run through the best U21 rated XI from the weekend's action in Europe's top five leagues.
Goalkeeper: Aaron Ramsdale (Bournemouth) - 6.58 rating
This past weekend wasn't a particularly good one for young goalkeepers around the continent. Aaron Ramsdale garnered the best WhoScored rating, albeit not a very impressive one. Ramsdale made three saves in Bournemouth's 2-1 defeat away to Sheffield United on Sunday.
Centre-back: Marash Kumbulla (Verona) - 7.38 rating
Verona came from behind to beat Juventus 2-1 on Saturday in what was arguably the result of the weekend in Europe. 20-year-old centre-back Marash Kumbulla did his reputation no harm with a solid display at the back. Kumbulla set a personal record for most tackles in a Serie A match (6) and also completed 92.2% of his attempted passes.
Centre-back: Dayot Upamecano (RB Leipzig) - 8.36 rating
RB Leipzig held league leaders Bayern Munich to a 0-0 draw on Sunday and young centre-back Dayot Upamecano took home the WhoScored Man of the Match award. Upamecano made six tackles and interceptions combined, as well as eight clearances and three blocked shots, to help Leipzig keep a clean sheet at the Allianz Arena.
Centre-back: Benoit Mukinayi (Monaco) - 7.47 rating
Monaco scored twice in the final seven minutes to beat Amiens 2-1 on Saturday. Benoit Mukinayi turned in his second best display of the campaign and set a personal record for most aerial duels won (7) in a Ligue 1 match this season. The 18-year-old also made nine clearances to help keep Monaco in the game before they staged their stunning comeback.
Right midfield: Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund) - 7.18 rating
Borussia Dortmund ended up on the losing side of a seven-goal thriller with Bayer Leverkusen. Achraf Hakimi must have thought he'd assisted the winning goal for Dortmund after teeing up Raphael Guerreiro for their third of the night in the 65th-minute, only for Leverkusen to score twice in less than two minutes late on. It was Hakimi's seventh assist of the league campaign.
Central midfield: Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) - 7.45 rating
Real Madrid came from behind to beat Osasuna at the weekend and Federico Valverde helped wrap up all three points with an assist for Luka Jovic's first league goal since October in stoppage time. Valverde also made three tackles in Madrid's 4-1 victory.
Central midfield: Weston McKennie (Schalke) - 7.52 rating
Schalke were held to a 1-1 draw with Paderborn on Saturday but Weston McKennie showed what a useful player he is becoming in midfield. The United States international won five aerial duels, completed five tackles and interceptions combined and made as many clearances. Not only that, but the 21-year-old had two shots and registered three key passes.
Left midfield: Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich) - 7.94 rating
There appears no ceiling to Alphonso Davies' potential after another eye-catching display for Bayern Munich at the weekend. Davies couldn't help Bayern break down RB Leipzig's defence in their 0-0 draw but he was a total powerhouse, particularly in the first half. Davies ended the game with four dribbles completed and as many fouls won. Not only that, but the 19-year-old read the game well and provoked four offsides for Leipzig attackers.
Right forward: Stephy Mavididi (Dijon) - 8.28 rating
Stephy Mavididi is turning into something of a revelation for the Ligue 1 outfit Dijon. The English striker started his career at Arsenal before being poached by Serie A giants Juventus in 2018. Given the chance to find regular playing time in France, Mavididi is quickly adapating to his new surroundings and on Saturday turned in the best display of his short professional career to date. The 19-year-old played a direct hand in all three goals Dijon scored in their 3-3 draw with Nantes (two goals, one assist).
Striker: Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) - 7.94 rating
Paris Saint-Germain ran out 4-2 winners against rivals Lyon on Sunday night, with Kylian Mbappe helping himself to his 15th league goal of the campaign. Mbappe, who also played a pivotal role in Lyon's sensational own goal, completed two dribbles and won three free-kicks for Thomas Tuchel's side.
Left forward: Musa Barrow (Bologna) - 9.04 rating
Saving the best until last, Musa Barrow is the best WhoScored rated player aged 21 and under from the weekend's action in Europe's top five leagues. Barrow, on just full league debut for Bologna since joining from Atalanta last month, scored twice and provided one assist in their shock 3-2 win away to Roma on Friday night. Barrow had five shots in total and also completed two dribbles against Roma's defence.
