Barcelona drop to eighth in European team form rankings

Despite a 2-0 win at the weekend Barcelona have dropped down the WhoScored.com form rankings for the third week running having been pushed to the last against Eibar.

While a return to winning ways after back-to-back draws was the priority, the blaugrana were far from their usually dominant selves on Saturday, mustering just ten shots at goal to their hosts 13 and needing a late Jordi Alba strike to kill the game off.

Meanwhile Atletico picked up an altogether more convincing 2-0 victory of their own over Athletic club, stretching their winning streak to four, while Real Madrid were involved in an absolute thriller in Betis. Zinedine Zidane will still be keen to tighten up defensively but he’ll have no such concerns over his attacking options after a 5-3 victory ensured they have now scored 23 times in their last five league outings.

Elsewhere in Spain, Girona were the biggest climbers onto the top 20 leaderboard, jumping 14 places to 11th following a comprehensive 3-0 win over Leganes, and there were significant leaps from the likes of Monaco, AC Milan and Roma too.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions are back to being PSG’s closest challengers in France following a 4-0 romp over Dijon, but Unai Emery’s side stay top of the leaderboard across Europe’s top five leagues following a 5-2 win over Strasbourg.

Roma earned a third successive league win at Udinese, while Gennaro Gattuso appears to be turning things around in Milan, with a 1-0 win over fellow European hopefuls Sampdoria earning the Rossoneri’s 16th points from the last 18 available.

Dropping at their expense were the likes of Torino (from ninth to 17th) and RB Leipzig (from tenth to 18th) after defeats to Juventus (now third) and Cologne respectively.
