Roma hat-trick hero pips Joao Felix to Euro player of the week award
Following the final round of league games across Europe's top five leagues before the international break over the weekend, it's time to review who the top performers were from each position. Both Serie A and LaLiga saw their first perfect WhoScored 10 rated performances of the season this past gameweek, while Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund stars impressed in the Bundesliga to feature in this countdown.
Goalkeeper - Koen Casteels (Wolfsburg) - 8.45
There was high drama in Wolfsburg's 2-1 win over Hoffenheim. Oliver Baumann came up for a corner in second half injury time and challenged Maximilion Arnold for the ball into the box, which saw the Wolfsburg midfielder concede a late penalty for handball. Koen Casteels, though, saved the resulting spot kick to preserve the lead and secure the hosts all three points to make it two wins from their last three. That penalty save was one of four the Belgian made in the narrow victory to secure a WhoScored rating of 8.45, that better than any other goalkeeper.
Honourable Mentions
2nd - Alexandre Oukidja (Metz) - 8.35
3rd - Angel Jimenez (Granada) - 8.24
Defender - Raphael Guerreiro (Borussia Dortmund) - 8.95
Raphael Guerreiro will feel aggrieved to have been on the losing side in Der Klassiker after a man of the match showing on home turf. The Portuguese defender's WhoScored rating of 8.95 was enough to win the award as he provided assists for Marco Reus and Erling Haaland to score. That brace of assists came from eight key passes, a record in a Bundesliga match this season, to land the top rated defender of the week gong.
Honourable Mentions
2nd - Ronael Pierre-Gabriel (Brest) - 8.40
3rd - Angelino (RB Leipzig) - 8.34
Midfielder - Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Roma) - 10.0
Earning the first perfect 10 WhoScored rating in a Serie A match this season, Henrikh Mkhitaryan put in a sensational performance in Roma's 3-1 win at Genoa. The midfielder scored his first, second and third league goals of the season in the victory, hitting the back of the net with three of six shots. The Armenian should have had an assist, too, having made five key passes and completed three dribbles, while an additional five tackles capped a wonderful afternoon for the Roma star.

Similarly with Mkhitaryan and Serie A, Joao Felix earned the first perfect WhoScored 10 rating of the LaLiga campaign as Atletico Madrid romped to a 4-0 win over Cadiz. The Portuguese forward had a direct hand in three of the four goals Atleti scored, hitting the back of the net with two of three shots and providing an assist with one of his four key passes. An additional three successful dribbles culminated in a third WhoScored man of the match award in LaLiga this season for the youngster.
