Fantasy Football: Who to buy, sell and captain for gameweek 14
The festive period is now in full swing with the Premier League fixtures coming thick and fast. This weekend marks the third set of games in a week.
It can be diffcult to stay on top of your fantasy football team at this time of the year but we are here to help.
Who to buy: Tomas Soucek (West Ham)
If you don't already have Tomas Soucek in your side then what are you doing. At the cost of just £5M you won't find many better options in terms of points-per-value. Soucek has just one fewer point than Riyad Mahrez despite being £3.5M cheaper and more than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who costs £11.4M.
West Ham travel across London to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Monday night and there is reason for optimism. Chelsea have lost back-to-back games and West Ham should look to take advantage of their weakness from defensive set-pieces. Chelsea have conceded five of their 14 goals from set-pieces this season, while West Ham have scored seven of their 21 from the same situations. Soucek scored against Chelsea last season from a set-piece and is the obvious threat from them again here, having already netted three league goals this season
Who to sell: Timo Werner (Chelsea)
It's been difficult to watch Timo Werner at times this season. There have been flashes of brillance but the amount of goalscoring opportunities he is passing up is now a conern. No one is doubting his ability but right now he is not at that level. Werner has now failed to score in his last five Premier League matches and has only provided two assists in that time. Werner has converted only three of his nine clear-cut goalscoring chances in the league this season.
Who to captain: Harry Kane vs Leicester
It might seem obvious but for those that are weighing up whether to captain Harry Kane, Mo Salah or Kevin De Bruyne this week, look no further than the former. Leicester is Harry Kane's favourite opposition, in terms of goals scored. The Tottenham striker has scored 16 goals in 14 previous appearances against the Foxes, at least three more than he has managed against any other side. That is without even mentioning the fact Kane has astonishingly played a direct hand in 19 Premier League goals in 13 appearances this season.
