Fantasy Football Tipster: Gameweek 31

After a long international break WhoScored's fantasy football tipster is back in full swing with this week's suggested XI ahead of match week 31. We line up in a 4-3-3 this time round, with a number of stand out statistics to consider when making your selections ahead of this weekend.

Jan Mucha

It's fair to say that Everton reserve keeper Jan Mucha's first taste of Premier League action was a long time coming but the Slovakian has taken the chance to stake a claim for a regular starting berth ahead of the injured Tim Howard. His total of 8 saves was only bettered by Jussi Jaaskelainen last time out as Everton kept City at bay and this week the Toffees host a Stoke side that have scored just twice in their last 8 away games.

Seamus Coleman

For much the same reason as his aforementioned teammate was chosen, we're backing Seamus Coleman to help Everton keep their second successive clean sheet. The young right-back has looked back to his best after a prolonged injury-plagued spell, completing 3 dribbles and picking up an assist as David Moyes' side wrapped up the three points to effectively end Man City's slim title hopes.

Patrice Evra

With United tipped to score from a set piece situation when they travel to struggling Sunderland in the WhoScored match forecast, we're backing Evra to add to his impressive 4 goal return. All of the Frenchman's strikes have come indirectly from dead ball situations this season, and United have only conceded 1 goal in their last 572 minutes of Premier League action against the Black Cats.

Jan Vertonghen

Another team deemed likely to score from a set piece this coming weekend is Tottenham, who make the trip to Swansea looking to dispel doubts over their Champions League challenge. Spurs' main threat from any such situation is definitely Jan Vertonghen, who has 3 goals for the club this month already, having only had fewer attempts from set piece situations (10) in the league than Kevin Nolan.

Nacho Monreal

Arsenal's Nacho Monreal should keep his place in the side over the fit again Kieran Gibbs for now, having had a rare chance to prove himself on the international stage against France in midweek. The Spaniard opened his account for the Gunners last time out and will come up against a Reading side who look to be doomed having lost their last 5 matches - a run which saw Brian McDermott lose his job.

Santi Cazorla

It's hard to avoid the urge to pick Arsenal's playmaker this weekend given the way he tore Reading apart in the reverse fixture between the two earlier in the season. Cazorla picked up a hat-trick and an assist on his way to a WhoScored rating of 10 back in December, and Arsenal should add to a tally of 12 goals in 2 games against the Royals this season as they're tipped to score as a result of a through ball and fast break situation.

Steven Gerrard

Liverpool's captain has played every minute of the Premier League campaign this season - one of only three players to do so - and this week faces one of his favourite opponents. The midfielder scored a late consolation when the Reds suffered a shock defeat to Villa in December and he's scored more goals against the Midlands outfit in his career than any other team (10).

Frank Lampard

The England man should be well rested having not played in Podgorica in midweek and will be confident of moving ever closer to becoming Chelsea's all-time record scorer having netted his 200th goal for the club last time out. Lampard needs two more to reach the historic figure and has 4 goals in his last 4 league appearances against the Blues' weekend opponents Southampton.

Wayne Rooney

While many claimed that United were a one man team following the form of Robin van Persie this season, a dry spell from the Dutchman has seen Rooney step up and quash such theories. The England man netted in both international games last week having scored 10 goals in his last 9 league starts. A good choice for captain this week, he's also scored in each of his last 2 appearances against Sunderland.

Christian Benteke

The Belgian proved to be a gigantic thorn in Liverpool's defence's side when Villa took all three points at Anfield earlier in the season, netting twice and producing a sublime back-heeled assist to boot. He will look to do so again and carry on his fantastic form, with only Luis Suarez netting more Premier League goals in 2013 than Benteke (8), and the Reds have conceded 9 goals in their last 5 away games.

Dimitar Berbatov

When Fulham host QPR in the West London derby on Monday night they will continue to try to 'keep calm and pass it to Berbatov', with the Bulgarian in great form. The Cottagers' top scorer has netted in 4 of his last 5 games and will look to heap more misery on the visitors, with the home side tipped to score from a wing play situation, as the striker did to put former club Tottenham to the sword last time out.
