Newcastle have opened talks with Crystal Palace to sign defender Marc Guehi, reports The Athletic.
The England international is believed to feature prominently on the recruitment lists at ‘a number of Europe’s biggest clubs’, but Newcastle are the first to initiate discussions with Palace this summer.
Guehi starred for England at Euro 2024, his first major international tournament, earning plaudits for his performances alongside John Stones, in the absence of England mainstay Harry Maguire.
The 24-year-old has entered the final two years of his ongoing contract at Selhurst Park, and with no sign of a renewal forthcoming, Palace may be inclined to cash in on one of their star assets.
