The Denmark international was heavily linked with a move away from the north London side in the winter window as Spurs weighed up the possibility of signing a new central midfielder.

Conor Gallagher and Ederson of Chelsea and Atalanta, respectively, have been mooted with a potential switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, any move for the pair was dependent on Hojbjerg, who has reportedly been on the radar of Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Napoli and Lyon, departing.

And after coming off the bench to play a key role in Spurs' 3-2 win over Brentford on Wednesday night, Hojbjerg has announced he'll not be leaving on deadline day.

"When the lawyer says it, I think we have to listen! So yeah, I can confirm that," Hojbjerg told Standard Sport following the win over the Bees when asked if he was staying at Spurs.

"I definitely feel I can help the team. Again, I showed again that I’m ready and of course - like everyone - I want to start every game. There’s no secret in that.

"We’re all ambitious but I think the important thing is to stay ambitious on behalf of the team and this is the main thing, that we can all keep our ambitions from the team’s perspective. It doesn’t matter whoever it is, we have to perform for the team.

"[The second half] was good, the team really stepped up second half and I think I helped the team well, Brennan helped the team well so I think it was good."

Hojbjerg has only started seven competitive matches for Spurs this season and is behind the likes of Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur in the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou.
