Pellegrini coy on links with England international

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini refused to talk about speculation linking the club with a move for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.

The City boss was asked about any potential interest in the England international at his press conference on Friday, but the Chilean quashed any talk about rumours.

Barkley, 22, is enjoying his best season to date and his performances will naturally see him linked with a move to some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, but Pellegrini didn’t want to discuss him.

“I don’t talk about rumours. We could have very long press conferences every week about the different players that will arrive here at Manchester City,” the City manager is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“We are happy with the squad and not thinking about bringing in any player or to sell any other player. I don’t want to talk about individual names because after that what I say will be highlighted or changed.”

The Everton attacking midfielder is currently the highest rated England player in the Premier League (7.56 rating) and only Wilfried Zaha (73) has completed more dribbles than Barkley (72) in England’s top-flight this season.
