Liverpool ace suffers injury scare on England duty

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is being assessed after limping out of England’s first training session, claims The Daily Mirror.

Lallana is highly thought of by England manager Gareth Southgate and narrowly missed out on a place in his squad for the 2018 World Cup due to fitness concerns.

The 30-year-old has been plagued with injuries over the last 12 months and has only managed three minutes of playing time for Liverpool this season.

Lallana was included in England’s initial 23-man squad for upcoming matches against Spain and Switzerland but has now emerged as a doubt for their opener.

Raheem Sterling has already withdrawn from the squad with a back injury and concerns over Lallana’s fitness will only deplete Southgate’s options further.

Eyebrows were raised when Lallana was called up by Southgate given such little playing time since the start of last season.

In fact, the creative midfielder has only played in 238 of a possible 3780 minutes in the Premier League in that period (6.3%).
