Barcelona to step up pursuit for Serie A pair

Barcelona are ready to step up their pursit for Serie A duo Lautaro Martinez and Miralem Pjanic, of Inter and Juventus respectively, reports Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

The Blaugrana have held a long standing interest in Martinez as the look to secure a successor for Luis Suarez.

Now 33, Suarez is in the twilight years of his career and Barcelona are aware they need to secure his replacement before too long.

Martinez hasn't been as consistent in front of goal as Suarez this season, netting just 11 league goals for Inter, but his form has convinced the board to make a move for the 22-year-old.

And their Serie A raid won't stop at just Martinez, with Barcelona linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Pjanic over the weekend.

Reports on Sunday evening suggested a deal had been struck that would see Mattia de Sciglio move to Camp Nou with Pjanic, with Nelson Semedo moving the other way.

Barcelona are set to undergo a huge summer revamp, with a number of players available for transfer as the LaLiga champions plot some high profile moves.

Indeed, the likes of Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic, to name four, have all been placed on the transfer list.
