Tottenham launch move for new right-back

Tottenham have made a move for Barcelona right-back Emerson Royal as they look to ease their woes in the role, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Spurs have been in negotiations with the La Liga giants over a possible move for midfielder Iliax Moriba, who has been courted by Chelsea, Liverpool and RB Leipzig.

And during talks between the two sides, the north London outfit have enquired about Emerson.

The Brazilian has spent time out on loan with Spanish outfit Real Betis in recent seasons following his move to Barcelona from Atletico MG in 2018.

However, Emerson doesn't appear to be in Ronald Koeman's plans, with the 22-year-old making just two sub appearances for the Blaugrana this season.

Spurs had offered Serge Aurier to Barcelona in the hopes of sweetening the deal, though the Spanish powerhouse turned down the chance to land the Ivorian.

Nevertheless, Spurs are tipped to step up their pursuit of Emerson in the coming days as they look to strengthen their defence before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
