Newcastle are expected to to ak in Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette before the transfer market closes, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Lacazette, 24, had ruled out a move away from Lyon until after the European Championship’s this summer but is reportedly now more receptive to the idea of making his long anticipated move to the Premier League this month.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been linked with the France international in recent months, but Newcastle are currently showing the most interest in the striker.
Steve McClaren’s side are reportedly willing to make Lacazette one of the highest earners at the club and have more than £20m to offer Lyon for his services this month.
Since the start of last season, only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (36) has scored more goals in Ligue 1 than Lacazette (34).
